Certificate of attendance

A certificate of attendance will be issued upon request at the conference office.

Climate

Białystok is a city with a mild summer continental climate. The average temperature in the first decade of September is around 14-18 °C. Umbrellas may be useful although the month usually shows more of the sunny side.

Conference language

The Conference language is English. No interpretation is provided.

Currency / Exchange

The currency of Poland is Polish złoty (1 Euro = about 4,3 Polish złoty). You can exchange foreign currencies (e.g. Euro or USD) in banks or in authorized exchange offices which can be easily found in Białystok (please note, banks will not exchange any foreign bills that are damaged or marked).

International credit cards (VISA, Mastercard, Eurocard) are accepted in majority of hotels, in many shops & restaurants, and can be used in most cash machines ("bankomat").

Emergency / First Aid

For emergency medical assistance / police, dial 112.

Electricity

The voltage in Poland is 230 Volts, the power sockets used are of type E.

Insurance

All conference attendees are advised to arrange private travel insurance. The conference organizers and committee accept no liability for personal accidents or damages to property.

Internet

There will be free internet (WiFi) available in the lobby of the venue.

Invoice

Invoice for the Conference services shall be requested at the Registration desk.

Public Transportation

Białystok has a well-developed network of public transportation that is inexpensive and reliable, although often crowded at rush hours. It operates from 5:00 a.m. to 11 p.m. Tickets can be obtained from kiosks or drivers. The bus driver does not have change for large notes so participants should prepare this fare amount in advance. The public bus fare is 2,80 Polish złoty. The ticket is valid for travel in one direction on one vehicle.

Shopping

Most of the shops in Białystok are open from 10.00 till 18.00, Monday through Saturday. Shops in the city centre are usually open from 09.00 till 21.00, Monday through Saturday. All major credit cards are accepted.

Local time: GMT plus two hours (in summer).

Travel Information

Air travel

The nearest airport is located in Warsaw (Warsaw Chopin Airport).

From Warsaw there are different  ways to get to Białystok (train, bus, car - see information below).

Depending on the transpotation mean the journey from Warsaw to Białystok takes about 2-3 hours (distance: 190 km).

How to get to the Ibis Styles Hotel from railway or bus station?

Tentative taxi fare from railway or bus station to the Ibis Styles Hotel is about 15 Polish złoty. The taxi stop is just outside the bus and railway station.

  • by public transport

From bus station: take bus No 100 at bus stop BOH.M.CASSINO, Dworzec PKS (57) in direction:

ŚWIĘTA WODA, get out the bus at bus stop SIENKIEWICZA, Rzeka Biała (417)

or bus no 19 at bus stop BOH.M.CASSINO, Dworzec PKS (8) in direction: DOJLIDY GÓRNE, Pętla,

leave at bus stop AL.PIŁSUDSKIEGO, Sienkiewicza (303).

From railway station: take bus No 1 or 18 at bus stop KOLEJOWA, Dworzec PKP_Kiosk (159) get out the bus at bus stop SIENKIEWICZA, Rzeka Biała (417)

or bus No 21 at bus stop KOLEJOWA, Dworzec PKP (158) leave at bus stop SIENKIEWICZA, Rzeka Biała (417).

How to reach University of Białystok Campus from Ibis Styles Hotel

  • by conference buses

Conference buses will be provided for the participants for transportation between the Ibis Styles Hotel

and the Conference site every morning and then in afternoons.

It takes 20 minutes, on normal traffic conditions, to travel from the Ibis Styles Hotel to the Campus.

  • by public transport

There is convenient public transportation in Białystok.

Visa support

Every person who needs visa to enter Poland should send together with the registration form a scan of the first page of ID (with photo), as well as an information about the closest Polish consulate in his Country. Once a list of visa applicants is ready (please let us know two months in advance), we will prepare official letters of invitation.
